SUMMARY:The Bells of St. Paul’s RING IN THE SPRING!
DESCRIPTION:The Bells of St. Paul’s RING IN THE SPRING!\nI love the smell of Spring. I love the taste of sap. I love the cry of a newborn lamb. I love the lengthening shadows and the steady drip of icicles melting. Most of all I love the feeling of anticipation that comes from preparing for a spring concert. This year the sense of anticipation is ever present as the Hand Bell Choir of St. Paul’s United Church in Perth prepare for “RING IN THE SPRING”!\nThe concert will occur on April 12th\, 2026\, at 2:00p.m. at St. Paul’s\, 25 Gore Street West\, Perth ON.\nSome past descriptors of the overall sound of the bell choir include\, “magical” “ephemeral\,” and “mesmerizing” The concert will feature beautiful and exciting bell music enhanced by many aspects and techniques of bell ringing\, including echoing\, marting\, table damping\, thumb damping\, and one piece of music entirely malleted. You could find out for yourself what these are all about by attending the concert.\nOther performers celebrating spring include Brad Mills on piano and Don MacLean on Cello\, as well as a barbershop octet called “High Octane”.\nAdmission is simply a freewill offering. Proceeds for the Bells of St. Paul’s. We hope to see you there.\n-by Grace Armstrong for The Bells of St. Paul’s

SUMMARY:Finding Your Way Back to You: Reclaiming Life After the Caregiving Journey
DESCRIPTION:Caring for a loved one is one of the most profound\, selfless things a person can do. And one of the most exhausting.\nWhether you are still in the thick of it or have recently come through the other side\, you may be sitting with a tangle of emotions you can’t quite name — grief\, relief\, guilt\, numbness\, or simply the strange quiet of a life that no longer revolves around someone else’s needs. That disorientation is real. And it makes sense. \n\nThis workshop is for you. \n\nHosted by the compassionate team at Hospice Care Ottawa\, this evening offers a gentle\, unhurried space to breathe and begin reconnecting with yourself. Facilitators will guide participants through the emotional and practical adjustments that follow caregiving\, helping you recognize what you’re feeling\, understand what you’ve been through\, and start imagining what life looks like from here. Together\, you’ll explore resources\, community supports\, and the quiet but powerful act of leaning on others while you find your footing again. \n\nYou’ve given so much. Come as you are. \nWednesday\, April 29th | 7:00–8:30pm\nOrleans United Church Sanctuary \n\nAll are welcome. No registration required. \n

SUMMARY:Clergy Learning Day - Text and Textures
DESCRIPTION:EOORC Clergy Learning Day – Thursday May\, 7\, 2026. \nSt.John’s United Church\, Kemptville\, ON.      \nRegistration/coffee at 9:30 –  Workshop begins at 10am. \nFree event\, and lunch is included.   Event will end by 3:30pm. \n*If you would like to attend\, please register here by April 29th at noon. We will need to share numbers and lunch info with our caterer. \nTEXTS AND TEXTURES:  An introduction to midrashic imagination for reading scripture in community. \nMidrashic imagination is as old as the Bible itself. Midrashic study of Scripture involves an imaginative\, faithful\, and at times playful “turning and turning” of a biblical passage in order to uncover its multiple interpretive possibilities\, especially as we bring that biblical text into holy conversation with our own lives. \nIn this one-day workshop\, Rev. Dr. Elisabeth Jones will share with us highlights and insights she has gleaned through over 10 years of research and practice of midrashic biblical imagination as a way to prepare preachers and congregations to hear echoes of God’s “lively word\,” not only in Scripture but in the holy conversations we have as we turn the texts. \n  \nBIO \nThe Rev. Dr. Elisabeth Jones has recently retired from her role as Lead Minister at Cedar Park United\, in Pointe Claire\, Qc\, giving her more time to devote to writing\, workshops\, and teaching preaching and formation for pastoral ministry.  She has served the United Church as teaching professor at VST and UTC (now United Church Studies at Dio)\, and in pastoral ministry in Quebec. She holds a D. Min in Biblical Preaching from Luther Seminary\, St. Paul MN\, is author of Lenten Prayers for a Pandemic Season\, and is “Gan” to seven amazing grandchildren\, who can all ski faster than her. \nBOOK \nYou will also be able to pre-order Elisabeth’s forthcoming book\, Midrashic Imagination: Texts and Textures for Pulpit and Pew\, (Fortress Press)\, coming off the presses (and in e-book format) on June 9th. \nEndorsements for Midrashic Imagination: \n\nIn “Midrashic Imagination\,” Elisabeth Jones shares a profoundly Jewish way of reading sacred text with a broader audience. She does so with the integrity of a scholar\, the sensitivity of a minister\, and the imaginativeness born of a true love of scripture. Rabbi Dr. Lisa Grushcow\, Senior Rabbi\, Temple Emanu-El Beth Sholom\, Montreal.\n\n  \n\nDrawing on the deep well of the midrashic tradition of rumbling with sacred text\, Elisabeth R. Jones expertly guides us from a place of theological anemia to a rich and deep practice\, grounded in that which is wholly love\, allowing us to aspire to the bold discipleship we dare to claim. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne\, Emmanuel College\, Toronto\, and 44th Moderator of the United Church of Canada\n\n  \n\n“Midrashic Imagination” is a gift to anyone looking to inspire Christian communities to new depths of scriptural engagement and together find new ways to proclaim good news in challenging times. Jesse Zink\, Principal\, Montreal Diocesan Theological College\, and author of Faithful\, Creative\, Hopeful: Fifteen Theses for Christians in a Crisis-Shaped World.
