Registration – 100th Anniversary Event at the EY Centre

Registration – Celebration on June 15th

You are warmly invited to a special celebration! 2025 is the 100th Anniversary of The United Church of Canada. The Eastern Ontario Outaouais Regional Council is hosting a gathering on Sunday June 15th at the EY Centre (near the Ottawa Airport). Worship will begin at 11 am. We will sing and pray together. Rev. Rob Oliphant will be our guest preacher, and Rev. Pete Woods is the music director. There will be a mass choir, a museum exhibit, and activities for children. Please bring along a picnic lunch! This will be a joyful event. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We invite you to be part of this event, whether you are a lifetime United Church member or this is your first time hearing about this denomination.

TYPE OF REGISTRATION

Everyone is welcome at this event, whether or not you are United Church member. Many congregations in our region are planning to send large groups to this event. We ask these congregations to decide and publicize whether they are doing a group registration form or individual registrations. Kanata United Church, for example, is doing a group registration; KUC’s office administrator will be collecting all the information for the form and submitting one form for the whole congregation. Other congregations are simply forwarding this form, and asking their members to register as individuals/families. Either option is a good one – but please make sure everyone in your congregation knows which option you have chosen so that we avoid duplicate registrations. If you are registering as a group, please conduct a survey to get approximate numbers rather than relying on estimates.

ACCESSIBILITY AND LANGUAGE

We will endeavour to meet all accessibility needs. The EY Centre is a wheelchair accessible building. Everything is on one level, from the parking lot to the event room. There are designated accessible parking spots. Each washroom has a wheelchair accessible stall, and in the centre of the building you can find washrooms designed with buttons to open the doors. We have rented a stage with a ramp. We will designate extra accessible parking near the building, and parking lot attendants can help to guide you to an accessible spot. If you are a driver who has passengers who would benefit from a shorter walk, you can drop your passenger off right in front of the building before parking. Headsets will be available. These headsets will offer a choice of English audio, French audio or room audio. A few loop systems will be available to go with the headsets. We will also have real-time closed captioning as well as an ASL interpreter. A quiet room will be available for breastfeeding (of course, feel free to feed your baby anywhere!) and baby care, and quiet sensory space for those with sensory needs.
A Designated Helper is someone who can help with accessibility. For example, if you need help getting from your car to the building, a Designated Helper could help you to unload any mobility equipment from your car and accompany you into the building.

FOOD AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please bring a picnic lunch to the event. We invite you to bring a little extra to share with someone who may have forgotten to bring lunch. This is a peanut and nut free event. Please also bring along a refillable water bottle.
This is a scent-free event. Please avoid wearing perfumes or other fragrances. There will be an offering during the worship service, and we would welcome your gifts to the church. We will have options for envelope giving and “tap” machines.
