2025 EOORC AGM

Our AGM will take place on Saturday June 14th at the EY Centre near the Ottawa Airport. (A Zoom option will also be available.)

If you have any questions, please contact Natalie Matkovsky (nmatkovsky@united-church.ca)

Invitation (English)

All members of the Eastern Ontario Outaouais Regional Council are invited to join us as we consider the future of God’s ministry through the United Church of Canada. After 100 years, we will take some time to consider how we prepare for the church as it might look in 2035. Information will be shared about statistical projections for the next decade and we will consider what we could do to help create space for healthy communities of faith. While only members of the Regional Council body can vote, all are welcome to participate in this important discussion.

Each washroom has a wheelchair accessible stall, and in the centre of the building you can find washrooms designed with buttons to open the doors. The stage will have a ramp.

As usual, we will have headsets available. These headsets will offer a choice of English audio, French audio or room audio.

The event is taking place in the room at the south side of the building. If walking longer distances is difficult for you, you may want to park at the south side of the parking lot (nearest the hotels). If you are travelling with others, you could be dropped off at the southern most entrance to the building.

· Where: Parkdale United Church, 429 Parkdale Ave., Ottawa

· Registration: Free. Please e-mail Roger rjanes@united-church.ca to register.

Registration

The registration process closed on June 3rd. However, we understand that sometimes folks forget to register or are unable to register before the deadline. If this is the case for you, please write to Natalie Matkovsky (nmatkovsky@united-church.ca) and Natalie will help you to register. Please note that, if you are attending in-person, you will need to bring your own lunch as the catering numbers have already been submitted.

Meeting Documents

Managing our Property: A brief guide for the management of property in the Eastern Ontario Outaouais Region of the United Church of Canada This is a guide to accompany the Future Through Property Event. You can print, save or distribute this guide to the relevant people in your congregation as a resource. *Please note: a new version of this guide was uploaded in early June.

Travel and Site Information

The AGM will be at the EY Centre, a conference centre near the Ottawa airport. This is a fully wheelchair accessible facility. Our meeting will take place in the south end of the building. (The end closest to the Hilton Garden Inn and Fairfield Inn and Suites). The EY Centre is a large facility, so we will be sure to have greeters and a registration table near the entrance.

Full address: The EY Centre, 4899 Uplands Drive Ottawa ON K1V 2N6

For those coming from within Ottawa/Gatineau (or who are taking Via Rail or parking at a “Park and Ride” lot): The EY Centre is easily accessible by public transit. It is serviced by Line 4 (the new LRT line to the airport) via Uplands Station and by several bus routes. If you save receipts, we are happy to cover ticket fees for public transit just as we cover travel expenses by car.

For those who are driving: We encourage you to consider carpooling if possible. Carpooling can be a great way to make new friends (or deepen existing friendships), create links between churches and care for the earth. We offer a per-kilometre rate for travel expenses, with a little extra offered for those driving a carpool. Parking at the EY Centre is $10 per car, so carpooling will also cut down on costs.

Is the AGM also celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the United Church of Canada?

We are hosting a special 100th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, June 15th. It will also take place at the EY Centre. We are inviting all communities of faith in EOORC to attend (and to bring along their friends, family and neighbours!) More details here.
