Invitation to Meet United Church of Canada Global LGBTQIA+ Faith and Justice Partners

Dear friends,

You are warmly invited to join us for an evening of conversation, storytelling, and relationship-building with five visiting LGBTQIA+ faith and justice leaders from Mozambique, and South Korea who will be in Ottawa as part of the United Church of Canada’s Faith Beyond Borders: Global South partners; exchange visit to Canada.

The Faith Beyond Borders exchange will bring together, 9 representatives from United Church of Canada’s LGBTQIA+ global network, to strengthen global partnerships, share experiences, foster mutual learning, and deepen collective action for justice, inclusion, and human dignity. The visit is part of The United Church of Canada’s ongoing commitment to global LGBTQIA+ accompaniment and solidarity.

These partners bring diverse experiences in LGBTQIA+ advocacy, theological education, community organizing, human rights work, and the creation of affirming and inclusive faith communities.

Invitation to Ottawa Communities of Faith and Affirming Networks

We are delighted that Kitchissippi United Church has graciously agreed to host this gathering. We hope this gathering will be an opportunity for conversation and relationship-building around affirming ministry, accompaniment, and the experiences of
2SLGBTQIA+ communities in different global contexts.

Gathering ObjectivesTogether, we hope to:
 Build relationships between visiting global partners, local communities, and communities of faith.
 Share experiences of fostering affirming and inclusive faith spaces in different cultural, social, and religious contexts.
 Explore the United Church’s practice of accompaniment and solidarity alongside LGBTQIA+ communities.
 Learn from one another’s experiences of advocacy, community organizing, and movement-building.
 Discuss intersecting justice issues affecting LGBTQIA+ communities globally and locally.
 Share experiences and approaches related to refugee support, migration justice, and accompaniment of displaced LGBTQIA+ people.
 Strengthen connections between faith communities, community organizations, and justice movements.
 Explore opportunities for future collaboration and mutual support.

The Faith Beyond Borders exchange recognizes that LGBTQIA+ justice is deeply interconnected with broader struggles for human rights, refugee protection, racial justice, decolonization, peacebuilding, and belonging. By bringing together faith leaders,
activists, community organizations, and local congregations, we hope to create meaningful opportunities for learning, solidarity, and collective action. We hope you will join us for this unique opportunity to meet international partners, hear
